I Spy With My Little Eye

(I don't know if the ask I sent regarding Anan's eyes reached Siphok, but if tumblr didn't eat it, sorry for asking and then losing patience to wait. I feel like I probably got a few things wrong with your characters' designs anyway. If official reference sheets of them come out, I may just draw them again.)

In regards to Bobo's comment about what she's seeing definitely not being Malleus... yes Jaxon has tricked her and she's mistaken Malleus for a tree before. She's somewhat near-sighted but refuses to believe that she could benefit from glasses.

Anan and Charin may have gotten ears which my chibi style doesn't usually have, but Jaxon got eyebrows. I usually don't use eyebrows for my chibi style either unless it really helps with emoting but it just felt like I was giving Jaxon a huge forehead with all that empty space.

Also I can't decide how I want to do belts for my chibi style so Jaxon randomly sometimes has a belt. One panel doesn't really show the earrings on Anan's ear and that's because I forgot along with also not knowing what to do with that ear angle.

I thought it would also be fun to share my rough drafts. Had a really rough draft first to try to get the idea down.

Then I polished up to a better rough draft.

Then afterwards decided to split it into two parts considering the size of it all. I did also originally sketch Bobo's phone to be like a flip-phone. When it came to the official outlining, I looked up what phone Crowley actually gives the MC in Twst. It's a smartphone and not something super old.

Also I changed some of Anan's lines as I realized that Siphok also takes the role of the MC and I wasn't sure how to go about merging worlds. I decided to try to keep it a bit more vague by keeping Bobo saying she's from Ramshackle, but not having anyone say if she's the Prefect. So could just be a dormmate I guess? Or just something that no one acknowledges or thinks about when two different MC-inserts may cross paths.

Didn't know how to have Jaxon leave and decided to go for the awkward just go and leave thing.

Shoes could be heard across the almost empty halls of Night Raven College along side some panting. “Hurry up Phobes!” Stated Aikat as he turned a corner in a hurry. The male behind him, Phobes, let out an annoyed groan as he followed. “No whining! We’re gonna be late”

It had been a couple of weeks since the school year has started. But even still, the twins weren’t all that familiar with the layout of their new school and got lost pretty easily -especially with how shit they are at directions- “I told you we should’ve asked Orpheus or Ortho!” Said Phobes as he continued to run through the halls. “Or even Idia!”

As the two continued to banter back and forth between themselves, Aikat suddenly collided into someone. As he fell back with a yelp, Phobes crouched next to him to make sure he’s alright. “Oh? And what do we have here?” The two looked up at who was talking to find not one, but two people peering down at them. Phobes let out a small yelp and hid his face in his brothers shoulder. “Sorry about that” Aikat laughed out “wasn’t looking where I was going”

“It’s alright” the white haired male, the one who spoke earlier, said and offered his hand to the two. Aikat gladly took it and dusted off his clothes. “You two look like freshmen, correct?” Aikat nodded while the stranger helped up his brother, who let out a small thanks and hid behind Aikat. “Yup!” He exclaimed happily “I’m Aikat Spanos. This is my twin, Phobes Spanos” he tilted his head to his brother, where Phobes stayed hidden “he’s a bit shy”

“I’m Anan Atthakornmetha” spoke the other stranger, now known as Anan “this is my bodyguard Charin Kamolnath” Charin gave them a small wave and grin. “Oooh bodyguard! Are you like, famous or something?” Aikat asked with a tilt of his head. The two now no longer strangers looked at him with a blank face before Charin let out a chuckle. “Do you really not know who he is?” He asked, Aikat’s response was a shake of his head.

“He’s a prince Kat” Phobes said to his brother with a slight frown “how do you not know about him?” He asked with a sigh, a bit annoyed. “Your twin is right. He’s a pretty famous guy around here” stated Charin. “Really? Sorry your… majesty?” Ana shook his head “it’s quite alright. No need to apologize or for the pleasantries. Ana is fine” “sounds good Anan!” Aikat beamed at the two.

“Anyways. What were you two in a hurry for?” Charin asked and crossed his arms. “Huh…… don’t know” the blue haired male shrugged and placed his hands in his pocket “I forgot. Probably isn’t important” Anan raised a brow at him “is it perhaps your first class of the day?” He asked the two since the first day of the class for freshmen has already begun. “Oh yeah! That’s what we were running to! I totally forgot about that thanks!”

The four of them continued to stand in silent before Phobes let out a flustered sigh before grabbing his brother by the upper arm “I’m sorry but we have to go to class” he said before hurrying off, dragging Aikat with him. Charin let out a laugh as Anan shook his head in disapproval.

Aikat stretched as he left his class with his twin. They had finally finished their last class of the day. It’s been a week or so since their meeting with Anan and Charin, and they’ve been hanging out a couple of days. Aikat usually hung out with Charin, while Phobes goes with Anan. But since both pairs are often together, they usually just hang out together.

The two had originally planned to have dinner with the young prince and his bodyguard, but they had to cancel last minute due to some important thing. So instead they decided to go to the library, pick up a few books, and have their lunch in the botanic garden. So that’s we’re they’re headed.

The library was mostly empty since it was the weekend. Only a few students plus the librarian were around, making the entire place ever quieter than normal. Aikat took a seat farthest from the door and pulled out his phone. If he’s just going to sit there and wait for his brother to finish finding all the books he needed, he might as well have some fun.

Phobes skimmed through the book shelves looking for something exciting to read. He stopped in front of a history book, specifically an autobiography, of a soldier that died during a war. He picked it up and started reading the first few pages of it.

“Excuse me” he glanced up to see a girl with short brown hair and brown eyes. “Would you mind handing me the book over there?” She asked while pointing at a book behind him. He blinked a few times and looked behind him. “Um…. Which one?” He asked as he scanned the books. “The purple one with a hardcore cover please” Phobes nodded in response and picked it up. It was an old one, with peeling leather and barley visible letters. Then he handed it to the girl with a smile “thanks!” She smiled back and took the book from him.

“What type of book do you have there?” She asked and pointed to his book “it looks nice” “oh, um, it’s an autobiography” she nodded before asking another question “are you also writing a paper on it?” He shook his head no “I just like reading. Are you using that book for a paper?” The girl nodded her head “yeah! It’s for an essay on the history of sunset savanna” Phobes nodded and turned back.

“If that’s what you’re writing about” he mumbled before picking up a few books from the shelves “I suggest these instead” Phobes held out the books “they’re much better for that topic then the book you’re holding” the brunette smiled and took them from his hand “thanks! I’m Siphok by the way” she smiled and held out he hand “you?” Phobes gladly took her hand and shook it “I’m Phobes Spanos, I have a twin named Aikat, he looks like me but with dark pink hair and glasses”

Siphok nodded at him “I’ll keep that in mind. I have to get going. It was nice meeting you Phobes!” She waved as she walked away, the stake of books still in her hand. Phobes smiled and waved back at her before walking back to his brother.

This is honestly so much longer then I originally planned it to be😭 but I hope you enjoyed this sippy<3

- Suchol’s first name “Sucholatee” means beautiful sea and his last name “Thipchalalai” means the angel’s ocean✨

- Suchol is based off of another famous literature piece (famous as in it has been in plays for countless of times- like Romeo and Juliet💀) called Phra Apai Manee (พระอภัยมณี) and he’s based on a character named Sudsakorn! The story is a bout Sudsakon, a half mer half human boy, goes on a journey to find his father.

- Spoiler alert: tbh his father is lowley a piece of shit based on what I remember😭 He has a lot of wives (at that time having many wives is a power status, and he’s a king) and he fell in love with a mermaid who is Sudsakorn’s mother. THEN HE LEAVES SO THAT’S WHY SUDSAKORN GREW UP TO LOOK FOR HIM. The dad’s also the protagonist of the story (his name is on the title) but I’m purely writing this out of memory because so many things happened in the story and I have to go reread it again. The dad left for some “duties” but got a new wife along the journey like bruh🗿

- Back to Suchol though, his horse Nhil (or should I say his unique magic👀) is based off of the horse dragon in the literature piece! The horse dragon is a wild animal, and its strength even rivals yakshas. But Sudsakorn decided that no☝️you are my friend and I will treat you like you’re some stray cat on the street☝️ and that’s how Sudsakorn got his mount HSJDJUJSUJDU

- To elaborate further on his Unique magic, it’s kind of like Kalim’s magic carpet. The magic carpet is a replica of the original one, and Suchol’s horse dragon ability is a replica of the extinct animal🫶✨

꧁𝐀𝐛𝗼𝐮𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐡𝗼𝐥꧂

- Sucholatee Thipchalalai or Suchol for short, is an aspiring and dutiful young half-mer of Royal sword Academy- sorry that was a lie, he’s actually a trouble maker. Don’t let his pretty face fool you!

- Oh, he’d stir up trouble and pranks everywhere. Like dude, how’d you get here in this academy of all places?? You sure you’re not from NRC? You didn’t snuck in here did you?

- Aside from his infamous tricks and such at the academy, he’s quite a sweetheart to his family; his single mother who is a mermaid, and his surrogate father who is an old man next door.

- Growing up on an island with fairytales and stories being told to him constantly, he grew up to believe it is all true. That is to say, he’s the type to believe that Santa Claus is real (and he still does please don’t break the news to him🙏)

- Suchol was a young prodigy due to the mysterious ways his surrogate father taught him magic. It ranges from animal linguistics to ancient magic! That said, he doesn’t find a need to study and still gets good grades. Lucky bastard🙄 /lh

- The general rule of hanging out with Suchol is to NEVER mention Charin. Ever. Not because he hates the yaksha, it’s more like Suchol sees him as his idol. Charin was the older brother Suchol never had. The red eye shadow he wears is proof that he wants to grow up to be just like Charin!

- Suchol is the type of guy who says the most mind boggling, crazy, unbelievable thing ever but it turns out to be true.

- “My dad is a king from a far away land!” Yeah sure buddy 🤥 (it’s actually true)

- But hey, being a bad boy and a trickster aside, having a friend like Suchol is like a breath of fresh air. He’ll drag you to fun fairs and games, making sure you having the time of your life is his priority.

- One of his best qualities (maybe the only one /j im kidding) is honesty. Suchol finds it difficult to lie. While he wouldn’t be blunt about it (*cough* Mathura *cough*), he still makes sure to be honest without hurting anyone’s feelings.

- So what do you say? You don’t wanna miss out on one of the best rides of your life, right? Suchol can’t wait to show off his new friend his legendary horse!

Charin rarely shows his tail, so it’s not required to draw it.

If you guys noticed, yes, I removed Anan’s chain-thingy on his left hand (based on one of my spams) because I got too lazy with drawing it and it’d be a PAIN to draw it all the time. I fr forgot that bro is not a Genshin character so I don’t need to make his design that complex. So, I added archery gloves on his right hand instead because Anan is a skilled archer!✨

I also added some red highlights in Anan’s eyes and I made him look…a little less intimidating. Actually- I feel like he looks scarier when he’s not colored😟 So if you guys wanna make him intimidating with colors, I suggest drawing his eye brows near his eyes so he can look angy😠

I must confess that I have NEVER drawn them with shoes before. Actually- maybe once in one of the OC interaction asks but it wasn’t that detailed and I was drawing out of my own ass. So this reference sheet made me actually design my characters properly.

I suck at anatomy, never learned it either, so I’m pretty sure their build and limbs are wonky asf and I apologize for that😭🙏 HOWEVERRRR if you guys have any questions about them (design related or not) feel free to ask me in my inbox!💖🤍

Charin usually hides his fish tail due to personal reasons, but shows it around those he trusts! He uses his magic to conceal it, not a potion. He cannot transform into a merman too- the tail is stuck to him. Think of it as…a cat beastman that hides his/her/their tail. I think HC gave Bobo a child silhouette, rip. Double rip because apparently Jaxon's so tall that her head just barely reaches his shoulders. (Now I'm tempted to draw Jaxon holding Bobo up like Simba but Bobo's just tiny like a little tot)

(hey hello hi new follower and I love your work) For the oc interaction I hand you Melanie and Louise!!

"It's a pleasure to meet you all!" The young girl curtsies to the three before rising. "I know we've never met before but I'm part of the Ramshackle dorm, here!" She then hands Siphok a small basket of bright red strawberries. "I grew them myself, I hope we can get along!" Soon enough a little mouse emerged from Melanie's breast pocket, scurrying up to her shoulder before bowing. "And I'm Louise, trusted knight of her highness! Pleased to meet you!" He squeaked proudly causing her to giggle.

Anan gives a curt bow, pressing a hand to his chest, “Good morning, and pleasure to meet you Miss Melanie.” His eyes then trailed over to Charin, who’s hands are behind his head in a relaxed manner. “This is my body guard Charin. Please, don’t mind his-“

“The pleasure is all mine, Melanie.” Charin says with his usual flirty tone of voice that makes Anan sigh internally. “How sweet of you to gift us these lovely strawberries? How about we all enjoy them together over a cup of tea?”

Of course, Anan’s eyes were already glued onto the small mouse in Melanie’s breast pocket. Oh my. What an adorable, fluffy little thing! It’s passionate about its duties as the girl’s trusted knight too! How benevolent. Surely Louise and Charin would get along—

It was even five minutes until Louise was chewing on Charin’s ears and kicking his feet on the poor half-merman. Anan stared blankly. Should he stop the fight, or should he continue to stare at how small Louis is- how Louis could definitely fit into his palms. Or those socks humans hang by the fireplace on Christmas. Oh wait! Meanwhile, Melanie and Siphok were too busy enjoying the strawberries and the tea that Charin offered (Siphok had to brew them, because Charin was dragged away by a rather protective knight.)

“You grow the strawberries yourself?” Siphok asks, trying to ignore how Charin was pretending to be defeated by Louise while Anan stares blankly at Louise from a feet away. “You gotta show me your tricks! Everything I grow dies.” She laughs.
